“If you can Dream it you can Do it!”

What an awesome statement and for many so true. When you look into history and you see the amazing things accomplished by many a person who just had a dream you can see that it is possible! So have that dream get it on paper and work towards making those dreams a reality! 🙂

It seems like it was only yesterday that we were still in 2018, we are already a few weeks into the new year and need to start thinking about what the next season will bring to us! We are in the middle of winter and so far not to much snow or cold, having said that the next week or two looks like it will be colder temperatures which is to be expected.

This however cannot stop the dreams of working on that new project or bringing to a close the current project. Maybe even consider a summer project outside. Oh what fun it is to dream and it is even more fun to make those dreams become realities!

Projects can be a big as building a house to refinishing a basement to even painting a piece of furniture for the first time! There are so many things that can be accomplished!

I trust that you know by now, that we love it when people come here with their projects on the go. Really great things happen!  A person comes into the store with a project and talks to our awesome team of staff and volunteers and while we may not be able to provide everything needed you will definitely walk away with some of the items on your list and maybe if you have gleaned some wisdom from the team here you will go with a confidence that yes you can and will finish that project! The customer most often finds some of the items on the list, and then when all things are done they are excited to come and share with us the pictures of the completed project! So fun!

We love hearing about before and after and we love it when our customers share their stories and their pictures of the amazing things that can be done with the treasures they find at our store.

If you are a regular customer at our store you will know that we also always have a project or two on the go here as well. We are always upgrading, or making things more efficient somewhere on site here! Being a “re use it” store makes it fun and challenging to make things happen with what we have available! Our goal is to not spend any money at all here and with most of the projects that we have done here we have done with minimal to no expense which is awesome!

So what is the point that is being made today!

Dream about those projects that you want to accomplish, than act on those dreams and come and see us. We may be able to help you reach your goals and accomplish what you set out to do! At the very least we will definitely be able to encourage you to keep going forward! The time does not stop and there is no time like the present!

Benches, Gardens and Spring!

So now that the spring weather is trying to make an appearance with the beautiful sunshine today I thought it would be fun to share with you some of the latest projects we have on the go!

As we plan for the spring and summer months and very soon we will be able to get into the gardens and enjoy exploring the creative energy that we have in setting up a place of enjoyment at our homes or cottages there is some enjoyment in adding pieces of furniture to that mix!

So here at the store we have lots of materials that we like to re purpose.  So we do what many folks do we go on Pinterest and we have a look or we check out Google Images and do some searches to get some ideas! Wow that can be overwhelming! 🙂 It is easy to get lost in these sites and all of the pictures with so many great ideas to choose from!

For the purpose of this blog though we chose to stay focused on a specific topic.

We have quite a few really good Head Board and Foot Boards for beds in stock. So we took a look online and came up with several thoughts and ideas.

Simple benches for the garden, deacons benches with storage, a solid bench with enough clearance to put baskets underneath for storage. Then we shared it with a few of our volunteers that like to work with wood and do some of this re purposing. Low and behold we came up with some beautiful projects currently on the go!

This definitely, like most things here, is a group effort. We have the visionaries who come up with the ideas, the craftsman/women who make the item and then the creatives here that do the final touches like the painting and the displays! Along the way the input of many creates a beautiful finished product with lots of love added to the project from the passionate group of volunteers and staff that enjoy the challenge of creating something from materials that would otherwise end up in the landfill!

These are wonderful times of seeing the encouragement of the volunteers and the staff as they create a wonderful collection of unique pieces that you would never be able to find elsewhere! 🙂

So the pictures above are ideas that we found, the pictures below are projects in process as we speak! We are excited to see the final results and look forward to helping you find possibly just what you were looking for!

For now we have created a few benches, as we listen to the customers wonderful comments of the creativity and workmanship that happens here we are also hearing about requests for Deacon’s Benches! So who knows what may happen next!!

We welcome your input on color choice and ideas and look forward to seeing you visit the store to be inspired by all of the incredible talent that we are blessed with in this community we call “New Again Construction Essentials Store!

We love to take “Before” and “After” Pics of some of the projects that are done either by volunteers on site here or off site.

Our store exists and functions on the reality that almost all of the proceeds created here are primarily from donations from our local community. This is incredible when you take a minute to think about it. There was a time when probably most of the treasures you see at our store may have ended up in the garbage dump and now we have the opportunity to re create new from used!

Below we have some pictures of a beautiful cedar lined chest that was donated to our store. Traditionally these chests are considered an item of beauty when stained and clear coated. It had been a well used unit that had seem some wear and tear. It was a project that was going to require some time and effort to bring it back to its original state. (most likely a lot of sanding!)

We have a few folks within this community  who have some amazing vision!

So what you are seeing below is the “before and after.”

This unit was painted with a white chalk paint, distressed and a more appropriate set of handles for the bottom small drawer and look at the results. We were so inspired by this that we looked into the concept of the Chalk paint further and decided that this was one line of product that we could sell here that would totally compliment the concept of making something old new again!

Really and truly, the pictures only show a limited view of how nice this turned out. It was pretty amazing to see how impressive it was considering how it looked before it was painted.

There are many stories like this that we will feature off and on. We have done smaller projects and bigger projects like this since this was done. We also have many customers that are willing to share with us some of the great stories of their “treasure hunt” here at New Again.

A great place to check out some of our ongoing projects is our Facebook Page that we call “Inspiration Station at New Again”

If you are in the Beamsville and surrounding area be sure to stop by. Quite possibly there may just be a piece that will work perfect for you, either one that you can do as a project or one painted by our awesome volunteers!

As always, a shout out to the many volunteers that make this place continue to keep functioning from one day to the next! You are all so appreciated more than you can know.

Looking forward to Spring!

So we are in the month of January and a perfect time to start thinking about the spring projects that you would like to tackle. At the time of this writing we have experienced a deep freeze and now in a thaw and heading into another deep freeze!

Experiencing a warm day in between the cold ones give thought to what projects we can do in the year to come!

Some may want to tackle an outdoor project like a garden or installing a pool! Maybe even an outdoor kitchen with some brick construction! (we have 1000’s of bricks available)  Others may want to do that indoor project maybe a kitchen or a bathroom. Still others may want to work on the He-cave or She-cave that they have been dreaming about for some time.

Spring is always a great time to get the project on the go! Now is the time to start looking for the list of things needed for the job! A little planning can save tons of money on a project especially if you are able to shop at a store like ours! Regular check ins will give you the opportunity to find much of what you may need at highly reduced pricing!

Painted with Nantucket Navy and Parisian Charm Bluestone House Chalk paint.
Now to one of our Awesome stories as promised in our last blog post.

We have a Before picture, Part way through picture, and After picture.

This project started out in the wood stain it was in decent condition, pretty scratched up on the top but other than that in relatively good condition.

Is that Paint you ask? 🙂  Yes actually it is!

We carry a line of Furniture Chalk Paint in the store by the name of Bluestone House.

This simple project was done in very little time. The paint covers well and drys quickly and is toxin free. (so you could do this in your house) This turned out so well! The final result was beautiful! Simple things that can be done to completely change the look of something and fit it with the desired results. This customer was thrilled with the results!

If you are near Beamsville or cruising through the Niagara region be sure and drop by the store and have a look. We look forward to seeing you soon!
